The start of this ride is also part of the Manawatu Cycleway on The Country Road. On a fine day there are views of the Ruahine Ranges all the way, and there are plenty of good spots to stop off at along the way to soak in the vistas.  The Ruahine Dress Circle Scenic Reserve is a must-do, and is located on the Lagoon Road (gravel road), which is off Kelpie Road.  It is a great place for a swim!
