TAIHAPE GUMBOOT DAY 2020
SATURDAY 7th MARCH 2020
10am till 3pm
The first Saturday in March, Taihape hosts the iconic Gumboot Day®.
A truly family fun day, a unique event started in 1985, it’s right in the heart of New Zealand’s rural countryside.
Gumboot Day is Taihape showcasing what we do well, and throwing the gumboot is only half the excitement.
Not to be missed…Yes, gumboot throwing IS a sport!
We have secured a great range of food and craft stalls from local and afar, so come on down and support them on Gumboot Day! Plenty of kids activities, we have bouncy castles, a merry go round, mini jeeps, Fonterra train and try your best in the Army obstacle course. We have entertainment from the skilled team, Highly Flammable & Ronald McDonald will be there to entertain the younger kids.
Of course the amazing VRay will keep the music and entertainment pumping all day and our talented team will be face painting all sorts of creations.
For the adults we have the Taihape Liquorland Home Brew Competition, so try your best in one of 5 areas to take out the cup on the day…. that is where you will probably find me, taste testing ? Entry forms can be picked up from the information centre or Taihape Liquorland.
Ducks, ducks and more ducks, get in quick to secure your duck for the Matt Hobbs Plumbing Duck Race, prizes for best dressed duck and the first duck across the line wins $1000.00!! Ducks are $10 and can be brought NOW from Matt Hobbs Plumbing or on the day.
Gumboots, well we couldn’t not mention Gumboots, the team from NZ Boot Throwing Association will be running the Nth Island Championships and the iconic “Have a Go” so make sure you come and support the throwers! The louder the cheers, the further the throw…
